The Nodes of Fate

Today I am turning my focus back to Venus, in order to contemplate her conjunction with the South Node.

In my body, I feel cold, a little jittery and anxious, maybe from coffee. The phrase bone-chilling comes to mind, which is very Scorpionic because its penetrating. Scorpio is slow decay and the power of that which evolves us. The South Node is a release point and may be directing us toward something that must go. Its like pulling up an anchor; an attachment to this physical realm.

There are several planets in Scorpio, the sign where the eclipse will take place, making the stationary phase of Mars retrograde cycle even more interesting. Mars is the ruler of Scorpio. When I think about Scorpio, I think about water and emotions. Right now, Mars is stalled out right at the end of the air sign of Gemini. Its like the Mars Car ran out of gas and now the driver has to walk on the side of the highway to the gas station.

Meanwhile, Venus and the rest of the group (Sun and Mercury), are hanging back at Mars’s house (Scorpio). The lights are on after the party and the image of “The Hangover” comes to mind because the most important person is kind of missing in action. Venus is the first to change out of the Halloween Costume and re-enter the world from this space of creative exploration. I think this is my subconscious illuminating the idea that doing Halloween correctly can stir up some creative juices and connect pathways in the brain. When we play dress up and interact with neighbors, we dip in to what that was like. Our DNA recognizes the love in community. That is Venus, that’s what she’s gotten from the community of the Halloween party. Thank God for my friends. Thank God for my family. Thank God for those that have passed. Thank God for this experience.

“Venus is the planetary significator of this second type of binding force in general, and of love in particular. Venus also signifies beauty and creation. Beauty arises when a set of relationships between different entities allows them to express themselves more completely, to be more perfectly themselves.”

-Robert Hand, Horoscope Symbols

Venus is a planet of merging, where Mars is separating, but in Scorpio it is alchemizing. Scorpio feels like the primal existential crisis of being human and animal and also perpetually dying from rot. I’m remembering the book series called “Animorphs” and the illustrations on the cover which always depicted frames of a time-lapse of a kid turning into an animal. This is actually a really great image for me, imagining Venus, the Sun, and then Mercury all crossing the South Node. We are morphing into our animalistic nature. *winks*

Finally the Nodes; there is a lot to be explored for me when it comes to the nodes. Much more for me, and soon enough I’ll be diving into it. Today I skimmed through the notes in my course, to see where the spirits were directing my attention. The North Node is our desire. Its our entaglement and attachment to this world. The South Node is the opposite: it is a point of disentanglement and detatchment. Neither is objectively good or bad, the are just times of great transformation. I have not looked very far into these shifts for me. When the nodes were in my 2nd and 8th Houses (Cancer and Capricorn, respectively), I began working from home, which is pretty interesting (considering the signs).
